Dear Barn Swallow Families,
We are hoping to have a 'rain-free' night at B Street Farm on Wednesday night! We will be sitting around the campfire for student presentations and you may like to bring a small blanket for your family to sit on or even bring lawn chairs if you'd rather have a seat. It will be a tight space, but we will all squeeze in as best as we can! There is a parking lot on B Street, right before the bridge next to the farm as you're heading out of Forest Grove and there may be a few spaces available in the parking lot.
Schedule:
4:25
Arrive
Arrive at the farm. Please place your blankets/chairs on the patio next to the main building so that paths are clear in the village during student led tours. Terry O'Day will have a B Street Farm waiver form that must be signed by all who attend. Your child will then pick up his or her research book and then you can begin the tour!
4:30
Student Led Tour and Animal Safari
Your child will lead you and your family on a tour of B Street Farm and share his or her research book with you. Your child has created a check list of what an outdoor space would need to have in order to support the animal they've researched. Explore the farm and try to find what is on your child's animal check list. Talk about other outdoor spaces, for example, a back or front yard, that could be enhanced to support wild life and people. Then go on the 'Animal Safari' in the Food Forest Village and find students' animals in their natural habitat! Check them off on the Animal Safari check list as you find them.
4:55
Meet in the forested area where we play 'Eagle Eye'. Your child will show you where this is.
The Violet Green Swallow students and families will begin getting settled in the Food Forest Village for their presentations.
5:00
Eagle Eye
We will make a large circle so everyone can see and hear the directions. Students will teach families how to play the game Eagle Eye and we will all play as many rounds as we can. Beware, students are looking forward to seeing if we can have a PARENTS ONLY round of Eagle Eye! Wear clothes that can get dirty!
5:25
Gather your blanket/chairs and head on over to the Food Forest Village.
5:30
Animal Research Presentation in the Food Forest Village
The Barn Swallow class will present their animal research with families around the campfire.
If we have time, we will roast marshmallows. (Shhhh!)
We're excited to share what we've learned with you!
Sincerely,
Sherry
